Engadget is reporting that the Zune HD might ship on September 5th. Then I have a feeling that we’ll see new iPods on or before that date this year. Purley speculation though.

I took my family to see Up today. Great film that once again reaffirms my belief that Pixar can’t make a bad film.

Wired sat down and did the math, and it looks like the house on Pixar’s new movie UP can really fly.

It appears that the Palm Pre emulates an iPod so it can sync with iTunes. It also answers the questions John Guber and I had a few days ago.

Because the Pre is emulating an iPod it should be able to sync with Widows versions of iTunes as well as sync music both to and from the computer.

Let the coutdown for an update to iTunes begin.

Where were they in the 90s when this market was developing? Oh that’s right, they were trying to maintain their monopoly and save their ass in court.

Besides the images of Steve Balmer demonstrating the Zune HD, there is a now video demonstration by Gizmodo. These, except for the lame radio, are all features the iPhone/iPod Touch have had for some time, and add little new innovation or features. That’s my assesment so far from this admittedly limited view of the Zune HD.

Yeah, the Palm Pre is supposed to sync seamlessly with iTunes. The Fortune article didn’t finish the thought however. I have the same questions John Gruber does. Does it sync both ways? How about iTunes for Windows?

Microsoft announced today their new attempt at being cool, the Zune HD. This piece of shit is aimed directly at the iPod Touch, with such cutting edge technologies as an HD radio tuner, Windows CE, and Internet Explorer.

When Apple built iPhone they used Mac OS X, a respected OS, as it’s core. Microsoft instead pulls Windows CE off of the shelf, reskins it and then tries to sell it as legitimate competition. Yeah, that’s going to work.

The most confusing bit, is the new Zune branded store replacing the current Xbox Live marketplace. Why? To confuse the market?

I guess if anything has ever been for sure in the world, it’s that Microsoft can make a mess out of a market. Just take a look at what Vista did for Microsoft.

The forthcoming Palm Pre is priced at $199.99 with contract. Best Buy is posting an unsubsidized Pre for… $849.99. Even when the iPhone had just launched and was unsubsidized, it cost $599 for the 8GB model. I can’t remember the unsubsidized prices for iPhone 3G, I do however remember it was outragous, but not $850 level of outragous.
