New search engines that are popping up across the Web strive to make searches faster, smarter, more personal and more visually interesting.

They don’t have a chance. Google in 10 years has managed to firmly plant it’s ass, and not much is going to budge it. Yahoo, once a dominant player, has even been knocked over by Google. Microsoft, with it’s disposable income can’t get a foot hold. Google has done many things right in a short amount of time, and has been rewarded for it.

That said, Google needs competition to keep it honest. I don’t see that happening no matter how hard these other companies try, I doubt they will gain a large enough market share to threaten Google. I hope I’m wrong. I like Google, I use it every single day. I use some of their other services such as Gmail and adsense (notice the ad to your right).

Another thing, anyone remember Cuil?
